The American Pediatric Association recommends that babies be exclusively breastfed for the first six months of life. While this is always a personal decision for every mother, Dr. Soos Pediatrics will encourage and support mothers who want to breastfeed. We offer in-office lactation consulting to help address latching and other problems common to nursing mothers, and to help ease fears, anxiety, and worries about breastfeeding. Our trained and experienced lactation consultants have helped many mothers overcome a wide array of breastfeeding difficulties and successfully breastfeed their babies for 6 months and beyond.
Call our office or speak to one of our staff for more information on lactation consulting. Even before your baby is born, if you intend to breastfeed it’s important to take steps to build a support system to help you succeed, and Dr. Soos Pediatrics can be part of that support system.
One in four children in the United States suffers some type of allergy. Allergies can make even the simplest tasks difficult and stressful, from eating to playing outside to walking the family pet. Dr. Soos Pediatrics is well equipped to diagnose and treat your child’s allergies. Please call us if you suspect your child has had an allergic reaction.
The process of diagnosing an allergy can be quite involved. We will begin with a physical examination; depending upon your child’s symptoms, we may also order an allergy skin test and/or blood test to be performed at the local hospital or by an allergy specialist. We may ask you to begin keeping a diary of the child’s diet, or we may also use the elimination diet system to eliminate possible allergens one by one until we’ve isolated the culprit.
Food allergies in particular are becoming more and more common. The most common allergies in children are cow’s milk, eggs, wheat, soybeans, tree nuts, and peanuts. Symptoms may include reddened and/or itchy skin, hives, swollen lips or eyelids, difficulty breathing, coughing, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. If your child exhibits any of these symptoms, please call us immediately.
Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder is a common childhood (8-11% of children) disorder, and can often persist into adulthood. Symptoms include difficulty focusing and paying attention, difficulty with self-control and moderating behavior, and hyperactivity. Not every child who “seems” distracted or hyperactive has ADHD; it’s perfectly normal for all children to exhibit these signs throughout childhood. Our office relies on feedback from teachers and parents (using a Vanderbilt Questionnaire), physical exam and office assessment to diagnose ADD/ADHD.
When a child is diagnosed ADHD, Dr. Soos Pediatrics has the expertise and resources to offer comprehensive care and treatment to your child and family. While there is no cure, most patients with ADHD can live productive and successful lives with proper treatment. Treatments may include medication, psychotherapy, education and training, or a combination of these. Dr. Soos Pediatrics will work closely with your family to monitor and treat your child’s ADHD with sensitivity and responsiveness to the disorder’s ever-changing nature. Our treatments will change as your child grows to help him or her to develop into a stable young adult.

Sometimes, children are sick with something more serious than a cold. Dr. Soos Pediatrics is here to support the families of chronically ill children, to provide professional, dedicated, comprehensive care, and a safe, comfortable medical home. Your child’s health and well-being are our top priority, and we are proud to offer the kind of care typically associated with larger cities, right here in Dublin. You don’t have to resign yourself to driving long distances every time your child needs to visit the doctor. We can give you the one-on-one attention and high quality of care that your child deserves, close to home.
When you wake up at night with a medical emergency, you may not need to sit for hours with your child in the emergency room; just to talk to a nurse. Dr. Soos Pediatrics has a nurse on call all day, every day, 24/7. We are here for you no matter what the hour, and encourage you to call our Nurse Call Line for a personal consultation with a nurse. The phone number for the on call nurse is the same as our office number, (478) 272-0203.
